WAIT!
Before you do anything, pay attention to the word "biography". Note that it does not have "auto" before it, and so what does that mean?
It means no first-person profiles. Yes, you may have fancy names for, well, "Name" and "Gender" and "Age". Yes, you may put it in weird (but readable) formats. But no, nothing like, say, "My calling" for "Name". "Calling" is fine, though.
Now, proceed. Have a good time whacking out the bio(s). :3
Form has been enhanced on 21.03.08.
Name:
Obvious, innit? Make it a good name, not just any old "Brownfur" or "Blackfoot". Give it personality. Give it a twist. Now, a cat called "Thunderspear" or "Silentswift" is much better, isn't it? And you may have an "Angelsong", but she may not necessarily be the "angel" you think of... Such contrasting names are always appreciated as they are interesting. Of course, your plain "Strongheart" may bring out a good quality in your cat boldly, as well... So use this as you would a tool, and make it accent your cat -- stand him/her out from the crowd!
Gender:
Tom or she-cat. No fancy words like "femme" or "fae", please. I don't like Wolfspeak, Felinespeak, Catspeak, Foxspeak, whatever you call it. Your good ole' English is good enough without the conflicting-meaning words everywhere.
Age:
In moons. One moon means a month. IC, of course.
Take note of the Hotspot age restrictions, and use your common sense -- would a Clan select a 20-moon-old leader or deputy?
The answer is "no", if you're wondering.
Wisdom and experience matter for such positions. A Clan places its complete trust in its leading warriors; no Clan would ever willingly have a novice cat for a leader. The previous leader wouldn't have chosen too young a cat for a deputy; sometimes, they even look to older cats for such a position. And think: if in a period of turmoil a leader cannot lead his/her Clan, then what will become of this situation?
A) Leader killed, gets overthrown, whatever.
B) Clan dies.
Besides, StarClan isn't exactly going to approve of a 20-moon-old cat on the metaphorical throne either.
Clan:
Eagle, Falcon, Hawk or Osprey. Or the UmbraFelis Guild. If it's a loner, put "--N/A--" here.
You have to consider the Clan's persona when moulding your cat;'s personality. Would a fierce, proud Clan allow a weakling into its midst? Would a Clan with honour let cats who have darker ambitions continue with said darker ambition?
Rank:
Obvious, as well...
Keep in mind the things mentioned in "Age".
Notes:
Put your notes here. *Winks*
Appearance:
At least three well-written paragraphs ((250 words would make a good minimum for this)). Be descriptive. And no, you can't just substitute a picture here and say: "look above".
I find that starting from the head and ending with the tail is often the best way; it provides a more complete and systematic description, and it has a good flow. But you might also want to talk about the more eye-catching aspects first, to bring them out even more.
Personality:
Same as before. Describe in-depth. What’s your kitties moods like? Does s/he like to do any particular thing? Any odd habits? ((250 words minimum))
Don't have it all conflicting here. Don't say your cat is a "great, powerful fighter" when s/he has a "slender, thin build"; no "friendly" and "secretive" cats; nothing about "being upbeat and cheerful" when s/he had gone through a "traumatic experience in her youth".
And no Mary-Sues. We don't want your perfect cat here. Give him/her flaws. Give him/her quirks. Make him/her stand out, even if s/he has to blend in with the crowd. Every cat is unique: bring that out in your character.
History:
At least five well-written paragraphs ((400 words would be great)). Good if you can divide it into sections, but a long flow of words always makes a good read.
Be detailed, remember that, and make it correspond with the personality. And don't make it the "tragic sob story", because we know it doesn't work, and you know it too. Give the history its own credit, the credit it deserves, and don't rip a past off another character.
Role-play Sample:
Only needed on first character. Doesn't have to be in this character, can be in any other one, as long as it's not human. And not an insect/fish/snail/etc. Make sure it's your current, normal standard. Don't whap out a 500-words long post because you want to impress us, and then go back to 200-words-or-so posts in your normal RP.
Basically, in this RP post, we ascertain your style of posting.
