Valley of the Wing is a literate feral cat Play-by-Post RPG based on the series of novels, titled "Warriors", by Erin Hunter. This RPG features feral cats that live in Clans and Guilds, as well as lone cats (Loners) and housecats (Kittypets). For more information on these terms, please visit Ranks and Warrior Terms.
In this particular RPG, we focus on a parallel group of Clan cats and their Guild counterparts, as well as some Loners (Kittypets play only a very minor role in the RPG). They are not related by any means to the original Clans except for the belief system and hierarchy. We have our own history, our own territory, and our own plot -- thus no spoilers for eager readers. Even so, we encourage you to read the first series of the "Warriors" novels to gain a deeper insight to the traditions of the Clan.
We are one of the few RPGs that present two points of view on the same subject matter, and one of the even fewer that incorporates real-life events into fantasy. Even if you would not join us, please do take a look around the site and leave comments, so that we know how to improve.

Apprentice Ceremony
Leader: From this moment, until (he/she) has earned (his/her) warrior name, this apprentice shall be known as APPRENTICE NAME HERE. WARRIOR NAME HERE, you will be mentor to this apprentice. (You are a true and trusted warrior, and I hope you will pass this knowledge to your new apprentice. --> This part can be changed to suit your needs)
Leader: I, LEADER NAME, leader of CLAN NAME, call upon my warrior ancestors to look down on this apprentice. (He/She) has trained hard to understand the ways of your noble code, and I commend (him/her) to you as a warrior in (his/her) turn. APPRENTICE NAME HERE, do you promise to uphold the warrior and to protect and defend this Clan, even at the cost of your life?
Apprentice: I do.
Leader: Then, by the powers of StarClan, I give you your warrior name. APPRENTICE NAME HERE, from this moment you will be known as WARRIOR NAME HERE. StarClan honors your bravery and courage, and we welcome you as a full member of CLAN NAME HERE.
*Leader lays her head on new warrior's shoulder; new warrior licks leader's shoulder and goes over to other warriors; new name is chanted by Clan.*
Leader: I say these words before the body of PREVIOUS DEPUTY/LEADER/DECEASED MEMBER, so that (his/her) spirit may hear and approve my choice. NEW DEPUTY NAME HERE will be the new deputy of CLAN NAME HERE.
*You can change the first part up depending on whether the deputy is still living or not.
Leader: Spirits of StarClan, you know every cat by name. I ask you now to take away the name from the cat you see before you, for it no longer stands for what (he/she) is. By my authority as Clan leader, and with the approval of our warrior ancestors, I give this cat a new name. From this moment (he/she) will be known as NEW NAME HERE.
*Leader lays her head on newly named warriorís shoulder; newly named warrior licks leaderís shoulder and goes over to other warriors; new name is chanted by Clan.*
Cats of StarClan: Welcome, WARRIOR NAME HERE. Are you ready to receive your nine lives?

Cat #9: With this life I give you nobility and certainty and faith. Use it well as you lead your Clan in the ways of StarClan and the warrior code.

*Old leader signals new leader to rise; new leader obliges*
Old Leader: I hail you by your new name, LEADER NAME HERE. Your old life is no more. You have now received the nine lives of a leader, and StarClan grants you the guardianship of CLAN NAME HERE. Defend it well; care for young and old; honor your ancestors and the traditions of the warrior code; live each life with pride and dignity
